Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the app ask for Screen Recording permission?
macOS requires the Screen Recording permission to access system audio through
its ScreenCaptureKit framework. Kielbasa uses this solely to capture audio —
no video is ever recorded or stored.
Why is my recording silent or showing an error?
Some apps use HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), which blocks
audio capture at the system level. This affects apps like Amazon Prime Video.
This is a restriction enforced by those apps, not a bug in Kielbasa. As a
workaround, try playing the same content in a browser (e.g., Safari or Chrome)
instead.
Where are my recordings saved?
Recordings are stored locally on your Mac at:
~/Library/Application Support/Kielbasa Computer Audio Clip
Recorder/Recordings/
You can also drag any recording directly to Finder from within the app.
How do I delete a recording?
Select the recording and drag it to the Trash, or right-click and choose
Delete.
Can I record from just one app?
Yes. Use the source picker to select a specific app instead of recording
system-wide audio.
Is there a subscription?
No. Kielbasa is a one-time purchase. Pay once, own it forever.
What formats does it export?
M4A (AAC) and uncompressed WAV. You can choose your preferred format in
Preferences.
